Hiding Thumbelina!
Oh my we’ve got a little thumb sucker who’s so very cute.
She has the dearest smile and a charmer to boot.
It wasn’t until she got a little older that we began to see,
That there was a problem by the time she was three.
She had troubles with her words, so we took her for therapy.
Her doctor fell in love with her but was very annoyed with me.
Her doctor said we should have started to break her right away,
Now it will be more difficult for it gets harder every day.
The Doctor bound her thumb in gauze and gave her thumb a name.
The thumb’s name was Thumbelina of notoriety and fame.
“No putting her in your mouth, Thumbelina hates dark wet caves.”
“If you do, you must start over; she must be dry for thirty days.”
Watching my little girl trying to keep Thumbelina dry,
Made my heart ache and made me want to cry.
One scary day my little girl was missing, we looked all around.
We searched for her & screamed her name but not a single sound.
The police were called and looked for her as every neighbor did.
We tore the house apart, every pot, pan and lid.
A little neighbor boy found her wrapped in a blanket of silk.
Every bit of blood drained from me, my face as white as milk.
We unwrapped her very gently, I’m sure you can guess what we found.
Thumbelina was in the dark wet cave and all loosely bound.
She now learned she could hide Thumbelina, so no one else could see.
This was going to be very complicated for my little one and for me.
