No Love For Sara

This very gifted little girl that no one wanted, sat alone in a room.
Would her world ever look brighter, than this world filled with gloom?
She was born with a birth defect, her life and her face held many a scar.
Would she ever reach her true potential would she ever go that far?

Without love in the world, death would come to most children’s drive.
But not Sara. this precious little girl, for she had too much pride.
Spending most of her time all alone she read and studied hard.
This was her way of escaping and coping in a life so badly marred.

She was found in an old wicker basket on the orphanage porch.
At first the officials thought her face was very badly scorched.
But it was a horrible birth defect that the diagnosis turned out to be.
No one cared enough to get her some help, not a soul to set her free.

All the children scorned & mocked her and wouldn’t let her come near.
They were terrified she was contagious and they had great fear.
No one even took the time to get to know this precious little girl.
For deep inside this child was a heart as priceless as a pearl.

As she was reading in her room a knock came at her door.
At first she was frightened for no one ever knocked before.
A beautiful woman clothed all in white came in and sat down.
“Hello Sara, I’d like to see if I can help you, my name is Dr. Brown.”

Her voice was like silk, her words were kind, she had a gentle touch.
And Sara was drawn immediately to this doctor and trusted her so much.
Dr. Brown said such nice things and gave Sara the first hug she ever had.
The tears fell from Sara’s eyes, which made Dr. Brown feel so sad.

“Sara my darling child, starting today your life will never be the same.”
“For you are going home with me my Sara and you will have my name.”
Dr. Brown noticed there were no mirrors at all around Sara’s space.
But it didn’t take her long to realize, Sara was ashamed of her scarred face.

“Sara, I can help you and restore all the bad things life has done to you.”
“I can repair your beautiful face and make it look brand new.”
Dr. Brown had never seen a child with such fortitude and grit.
Dr. Brown observed her determination, Sara never seemed to quit.

Hundreds of books stood on the shelf, and not for a child of ten.
But she knew Sara read everyone of them over and over again.
She fell in love with Sara even before she entered her room
She read everything about her in her file, a file filled with doom

My darling Sara, I know life has not been kind to you, but no more!
“Come with me my Sara,”
Sara clutched her hand and both walked
hand and hand through the orphanage door.

This is good when positive resolution gives a child new life. Thankfully, this does happen more often than we realize... good people are out there... :-)) lindalaw
