Eyes Don’t Lie

I don’t know what compels me
to stare intensely at your face,
perhaps it is your cashew smile
or the mysterious  look you radiate.

You turned  another direction
and my thoughts turned downward
to old tennis shoes soiled and worn
pondering  if I should head-on-home.

An uncannily chill surface

 g~     ~o~     ~e~       ~u~       ~p~
    ~o~     ~s~      ~b~       ~m~     ~ s~

to raise my eyes  to yours
silence held your eyes and my breath,

I felt we were alone, statuette.

With a sense of acknowledgement
our sighs met as secret whispers
telling each other things we already knew
while some secrets lead us to focus on tennis shoes.

Tracey, as I have mentioned many times before my gifted friend, your poetic talent continues to impress me. This striking composition just oozes with raw innocence of a common bond, yet they’re still afraid of taking that first step towards achieving a natural togetherness. Outstanding work. Thank you for sharing your work. Take care and be well.

One just never knows what is going to strike us as being special about another.
I believe in fate..I think if it's meant to be..it will be.
Excellent write Tracey!

Very nice expression of imagery and feelings. It's the subtleness of the feelings in this poem that wins.
