A light shimmers against the darkness
before disappearing into the mists
calling out to us, guiding us...
a true and marvelous miracle of His.
A lighthouse shining...so we will not wreck
upon the treacherous boulders of life's woe.
It stands through peril and storms unmerciful
only to remind us that there is hope yet to go.
And he stood before us...bright eyed...
his humor was the light that shined on through
God's personal little lighthouse guiding us...
through his poetry, we were always moved.
And I, for one, will miss him dearly...
that stage will be a little more dark and bare
without the light shining within that lighthouse
to remind us of the good existing there.
Rest, dear poet, recover from this old life
and recite a poem to the angels on high.
I will remember you always, Darrel...
I only wish that I could have said goodbye.
