"Couple Dancing, New York"

*see sometimes yall
I gets so confused by the hands...you know
so many hands wanting to show me the "real"
and sometimes yall
I just be needing to be lifted above the concrete...you know
be brought back from this mud hole I be
walking around in
sometimes I be smelling the flowers
feeling the sun shinning high
like six feet above my head~~~~

Poem Artwork

I heard my name on the wind

Trampled under the feet of passerby’s

Falling through my hands like the men I had

Tearing all apart

“and you call yourself a “woman””

laughs up my back

to slammed doors and brawls

I mean drunken blacked eyes, big lipped, purple loved stained skin

“and you call yourself a “man””

I heard my name on the wind

Drugged under no muffler having three tires and a spare

Through dilapidated housing units

Where the walking dead is the majority

And I just ain’t got enuf pennies to go round

And you ain’t here

No mo push it…push it…push it inside of me

No mo you my baby and have you mean it hot breath on my face

On my skin

Mixed in with whiskies best

No mo I want you to…or….do this for me baby

I heard my name on the wind

Cries cause I ain’t never really been alone

No sorry scratch that

I mean I never truly had no one to miss

And when I did she was already gone

And when I did he is gone now but not so far away that I

Can’t hear his voice in the wind

Callin out my name…in the shower

Callin out my name….through the images I send him

Hopin to catch a glimpse of him

  In the night

   On the moon again

Cause I am moving on up on the outside

“oh you so pretty”

“your skin is glowing”

“you look so young” but but but

on the inside…….on the inside

I am fallin apart

Stuck in lime green slime infecting my dreams

Having me chasing my name on the wind

That I think is him callin out ta me

*see sometimes yall I’s get so confused by da hands

you know

so many hands wanting to show me da “real”

and sometimes yall I’s just needs to be lifted above da concrete

you know

be brought back from dis mud hole I’s be walking in

sometimes I’s be smellin da flowers yall

feel dat sun shinning high…like six feet above ma head

when I’s hear ma name ridin on dat wind

I get ta climbing so I’s can catch his breath on ma name

   Ridin on da wind

 Catch it fore reality come

Fore reality comes and takes it away

Mitzi:

Wow -- just gets to the core of the human condition and confusion. despairing, gut wrenching and always trying to get to the surface to catch air. Your writing is unique, I can almost see you reciting it (on a stage for some reason.)

Such richness, depth, tension... and a whole lot goin on. Felt like I had fast-forwarded an amazing movie that was both brutally "tellin-it-like-it-is" and sublimely surreal and evocative The pain and desire for escape is palpable. And the groaning longing of body and soul. First class as ever, Mitzi and I would love to hear this performed. Bless you and thank you. Kate xx

Good piece of work. It is so surrealistic -- more like an outpour of feelings and sensations in the mind. I really liked reading it.

All visions depicting the emotions in surreal impressionist and symbolistical rainbow showing the colors of the inner mind "Callin' Out" to life.

I did enjoy the smell of this poetic bouquet "Callin' Out".

I salute You, Poet.

Your eyes see, but your heart it reports in the will of a people struggling but so alive, reality it is, not good but there, hurt so good, it makes me cry, yet in this world in which we live the mark of the writer, expands to so much more, images always move in my mind when I read you, you bring it all, so a live. Special the share of time and place.. we live, maybe more... but it is enough for now.. Walt

Strong and openly brutally honest look at the inside of a heart in a neglected world. The mind may allow escape but the reality is always there on the return. Striking images here Mitzi...
