Modern war is technologised insanity, but no more so than any other form of creative diversion us humming beans seize upon to span the yawning gap between birth and death. War is often ghastly, but it occasionally has its lighter, more whimsical side (i.e. Mel Brooks 'Springtime for Hitler', etc.). Here's a bit of doggerel inspired by the 1991 Gulf War I in the Middle East, when it seemed as if the chemical and biological gates of hell were about to spawn truly unbelievable horrors... My sincere apologies to The Reverend Charles Lutwidge Dodgson.
