I wrote this for a friend at church who had low self esteem and was frustrated over not dating much or feeling beautiful.
Our society misses the loveliest of treasures
Beauty that is not skin deep
It’s shallow focus is on glamour
Instead of a good hearted person being giving and meek
It is a shame that one buys into such meaningless virage
Concealing a person’s true beauty
Like a vanishing mirage
For a person’s spirit is linked to their heart
It is that richness that is nurtured by God
Through its true core love
Not some murky fascade of mud
True beauty is how we love and give
If we focus on heartful matters
And the love that can so easily abound
Soon that face in the mirror will reflect
Beauty from what is already within
Life’s true st crown
