Two Poems, the first based on present day, the latter, my haunting past

Poem Artwork

WARMTH

When you hold me, I fall like a dew drop from the morning leaves
Into your arms
where I am warm, like a child in her mother’s womb
So secure, no fears penetrate my mind
with you I am and truly safe

Your touch is soft as an angels whisper
when you stroke my eyes, I feel you
leave behind a glow, that so gently warms my face
that will remain there till morn
I swell with emotion, like a rose bud blooming in the early sun

Your eyes hold mine, with the urgency of longing
they search my mind, where you then find my desire
I kiss your eyes, your lashes dampened by my lips
Our kisses unite into one emotion as our mouths mould
held together, prolonging the moment
afraid of the pending separation

Our lips part, breathless , with a single sigh
our bodies quivering like the rustle of leaves before a storm,
knowing that moment was ours, and needing it again instantly
we join as one again, only the feeling is greater, stronger,
with deeper yearning,
then, we release like falling sand out of child's hand

You warm my mind, my heart, and soul
with the heat of your desire, and your love.
Please keep me warm forever

LOOKING BACK

Watching them play

Fills me with pride

With giggles of joy

They have nothing to hide

Me as a child, a different tale

Tense, awkward, never daring to speak

 Always waiting for me

The sadness would seek

I’d stand alone

Hearing thudding feet

Pain sweeps over

As she begins to beat

After, her feelings free

A good little girl, now I will be

Never feeling, never being

A doll who smiles frozen, without any meaning

Robin Ouzman Hislop's poetry is certainly in dialogue with some of the key architects of the 'poetics of indeterminacy' – both the Modernist strands represented by the likes of Beckett and Stein, and the postmodernist strands represented, initially,
