  Berries History, Fear

Secret !   Secret !   Secret !
A  small bird outside the end
window to my room gives all
its time and energy into passing
to me.  To me, whose berries
she thinks nothing of ripping
off.  Holly her favorite, she
informed me. (Christmas candy
from a prickly stocking?)
I want to believe the Secret
is a formula for world peace.
A potion or pill that will make
us behave like the "higher"
animals we flatter ourselves
we are.  Or it could be a way
to feed the hungry, or a spray
that once released, stops bombs
and guns short.  Bet she is
passing more.  Knows how we
can clean the air and ground.
Save water.  Get the lead out!
Got a cure for cancer, for AIDS.
Way to increase immunity!
Barring the miraculous, at least
give us a tool pries open the plastic
traps a new dvd or convince the IRS
to let us deduct for the peanut
butter and jelly, baked potatoes,
and pizza we eat to reduce stress.
(Dark chocolate, pretty-please-?)

Secret !  Secret !  Secret !
Secret !  Secret !  Secr-

Nada
.

there is great wisdom and humor in your poem Phyllis -- it is definitely though, not just for avian delight -- peace and love to you my friend -- JMW

This is a good be a human being poem. I like what you say

A potion or pill that will make
us behave like the "higher"
animals we flatter ourselves
we are.

I think most people these days take our existence for granted without looking ahead at the consequences. I red where Russia is sending warships to Cuba again. This is not a really good idea.

This poem is a dream that could come true if only everybody would stop trying to be the biggest baddest boy on the block. I am one who feels this poem tells a story of world abuse; wars, hate, bigotry, discrimination, my daddy can beat up your daddy types.

If we were to be without these things, this would be a wonderful world to live in. I agree with what John said too. Thank you for sharing.

May the Lord Jesus bless you, and those whom you love, and who love you, and be with you always, and at your side constantly. With much love in myheart, joy to the world, peace on earth, & (((((((((MANY WONDERFUL SISTERLY HUGGGGSSSS)))))))))), your little sister, Barbie

Brilliant write, Phillis!! If only the annual wish for world peace and good will toward all was more than just a passing fancy..sigh. Yes, if only we would "behave like the "higher" animals we flatter ourselves to be."...maybe someday, I am hoping it is soon. Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year to you and yours, Pea.
Take care,
Sherry

Chocolate should be tax deductible for all females. Another magic secret that will straighten every thing out? I wish. I'm afraid it will take just hard work on the majorities part. Superb write. Thoughtful and wistful. Merry Christmas and hugs. Liz

Hello Phyllis and always such a pleasure to read what you express through your writing and this is one more fabulous piece with a moral we could all learn from the bird and nature as a whole. Watch those Holly berries though, not good for human consumption. God bless and a very warm Merry Christmas to you and your family....

Be always safe,
Karen
