Seven Pounds
by: Linda Law
How does one measure a life?
Is it with the goodness that you gave
Or the times when you felt the failures
Those times when you brought smiles
Never stopping long enough to enjoy
Giving hope, inspiration, and love to all
Wonder if you ever knew how empty
The world would be without you in it
Laughing, never giving up, not even once
Then there were the times when you insisted
That the kids would never be without you
Or that you could not live without me
Those tender moments when your eyes
Met mine, when no words could explain
It was as if we were not two, always one
I was so naive, a fool, never dreamed you
Would leave...Not you! You were invincible
Yet, you smiled at me and said, I love you
How easily those words came, actions too
Then I left for a moment, in the blink of an eye
You were gone. Life was gone. Life is black.
Six feet three inches, two hundred twenty
Just turned fifty five, still so filled with hope
Ashes you requested, Ashes you remain
Seven Pounds they said, poured into bronze
The sum of life ... one made of solid gold
Who knew you would not be there to grow old
Seven pounds of solid love, unbreakable
Untouchable, and yet, I am not ready
Cannot let go....so for now I keep you near
If I let these Seven pounds go...I may not live
take care

Everyone has to choose according to his or her God given talent what they like and please. I feel profoundly melted in the sweetness of life when I read or when I hear music. I will never be able to express this mervellous feeling the way you did. Love Emile.

There is a place in your heart reserved for your special love. When a loved one's life is cut short the beautiful memories of happier times come to the fore. Nobody can steal the tender moments you both shared.....etched in your memory forever.
Stay strong Linda, Stuart
We never really let go...Love lives through ashes and mocks infinity.
A great tribute to the one you loved and still love. He knows, Linda.

Stay well, my friend.

But...when I opened the link I was met with a somber poem about life...letting go...and holding on to those who mean the most to us. A poem that hit to the very core of my fears...that someday I might have to walk alone in this life.
A beautiful, well-composed poem... Thank you for sharing and helping us to see inside your own compassionate heart.
Love,
Cryssa :~)
