Like a Little Lamb

At all times, in every season, even when we think we are most alone, God is speaking. Do we hear him--or only the sound of our own shattered heart?

Poem Artwork

A poet is like a sponge, soaking up the feelings of others and expressing the experiences of many. My heart is no longer shattered, though I sometimes notice the pain of past bruising. Yet, I will not forget. I will remember the pain and rejoice in the healing. Like a little lamb, drawn to the Master's side, I will go--and He will carry me.

My shattered heart,

Oh my shattered heart,

Do you see the pieces lying there?

Scattered on the chair, blood red,

They glisten with the sound of doom.

Does no one care? Does no one

even see my shattered heart?

                          ~

Come to me you wounded

and broken and I will bear you up

on my shoulder like a little lamb..

     ~

The night is dark the pain

is fierce, my cries unheard

for they pierce not the night

but my own broken heart..

Oh, he is here and death

and fear and pieces of my

soul are mingled on the chair.

                      _

Come to me you wounded

and broken and I will bear you up

on my shoulder like a little lamb.

                             ~

The years have passed

Where did they go?  I have

forgot-and yet, I know

Ignorance is not bliss and so

Come Shepherd come

and take me out of this..

                   ~

Come to me you wounded

and broken and I will bear you up

on my shoulder like a little lamb.

And still He speaks

Do you hear him?

Do you hear him now?

I agree it is sad but it also offers hope for the sad at heart that there is a Healer who will carry them just as He has carried you and me. I believe this poem and other poems that you have written allows others to experiece the realness of your life and the victories of your life as well and your hope is in the grace and love of God who is sufficient to meet all your needs.

I know this poem is sad, and it may be difficult for some of my friends to read it. Please know that the grace of God is sufficient to heal all wounds--both mine and yours. All of us have experienced pain, some more than others, and some of us have doubted, at times, that anyone cared. Getting past the pain involves getting to know the Healer. For those of you who share my history, I want my words to remind you that you are not alone. For others whose life has taken a different turn, I hope you will understand better those of us who have walked this way because of my articles, poetry, and blogs which I share on author's den. Love to all, Linda

Absolutely true. He sees, feels, hears all our sorrows and cares deeply. He is always there and bids us place our broken heart in his care.
