Perhaps there are more answers in dreams than we yet accept.

Poem Artwork
It’s Okay
by Odin Roark

Many see labeled folds and creases
Across forehead and brow
As problems unresolved
As thinking lines

Perhaps when one sleeps
Furrowed wrinkles stay left behind
The hoe of worry
Takes its earned respite
While the world’s hope of harvest
Gathers rest in darkness

How tenuous
This short-lived slumber
Where battlegrounds
Become buried beneath peaceful seeding

Where life’s nourishing fields
Find shelter from evil’s eruptive invasions

Where headlines of contracted mind-waste
About to carry primed destruction
Strapped to their chests
Still breathe

Where children making bullets
Find time to gather casings
Gently pressing blood stained soil
Into their playhouse planters
Believing vines will grow into
Escape routes to sunshine and heaven

Where beyond inevitability
Leaves still flutter
Upon limbs still expanding
Engulfing trees still becoming
Before smashed atom-waves
Incinerate life to ashes

Where when you awake
A bewildered world asks
Why thinking lines now smile
And your tearful heart
Surviving not by breathing alone
Whispers its prescient wisdom
“It’s okay to listen and hear silence
To be at peace
To be happy…

If only in your dreams”

If the Syrian refugees are not afraid to sleep, that is the only place they can go to escape, I'm guessing. I've been in a state of mind and supposedly a home, where dreams became my only source of freedom, when I was not afraid to sleep. But once deep sleep fell upon me, I never wanted to wake back up to the horrors each day. Those refugees, I can't imagine. May they find some happiness in their dreams.

It is a wonder that anyone of this world has gentile dreams, let alone healing dreams. Whether real or borrowed from holocaustic entertainment, our world has become increasingly darker. The real damage is done when we fear sleep as much as we fear the world around us. Even as you whisper of tranquility, you hint of the violence forever in the background. M.True

I like the soft message that is more realistic than the daily news. For most folks, life is happy.

Healing takes place in dreams. Of course it is okay to be happy, at peace ... just as it is important to deal with tragedy in them. Thanks for reminding us in your dark bright way.

The nature of dreams is usually disjointed and unconnected images that reflect some little aspect of our lives. The only ones that most of us would remember are the technicolor panoply of bizaare images that go into our most vivid dreams. At least those are the only ones that I seem to commit to memory. Some really impressive ones have found their way into some of my poetry. Whether these dreams really mean something, I would hesitate to affirm in any situation. Suffice it to say that vivid dreams are bizaare and impressive and of some use to us if we write. It seems to me that some vivid dreams have found their way into this highly readable and impressive poem Odin. I very much enjoyed and was inspired by the rhythm and quality of your words. Bob

I have not understood dreams while sleeping . Hardly I see and if at all I see by chnace ,I dont remember in the next hour and it has no relevance to my life in any way. Ha, If you are talking of daydreaming, well that is a happy phase, I am at peace because I daydream, that is the inspiration which leads me ahead .The essence of my happiness is because of my dreams....I understand it should be so for many others too

Many dream wizards say our brains are like computers.
When we sleep our subconscious geeks are busy downloading
all of our unwanted files and putting them into the trash and
recycle bins. With any luck we hit the "delete" key and not
the "recycle" key.

Odin, this spreads open the whole page, illustrations and all, beginning with the duplicity in the word 'hoe,'the hoe of worry, going into 'headlines of mind-waste,' (this is ripe in itself, with truth...the growing vines of escape), and what a beautiful finish...permission to listen, hear and accept peace and silence. This writing gives value to sleep and to 'evasive prophylactic thought waves.' Thank you

Dreams, of course are extensions of the one dreaming them. Where dreams make no sense to us it is possible for it to make perfect sense if only we could have finished it instead of awakening. Especially the nightmarish kind. Then too, there is the concept that if we hadn't awakened we would know the full horror that the dream could unleash. On the other hand if we are dreaming peaceful thoughts and finished it without waking up we might be given the key to the universe to do good and end wars and famine, etc.
