Our Colorless Palette

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

Bleak as it may sound, today’s news purports the world still turns, but man’s principals are continuing to defy gravity, sending further afloat the indubitable loss of humanness. Yet…we continue to aggrandize a diseased planet.

Poem Artwork
Our Colorless Palette
by Odin Roark

Through birth’s ethereal optics,
the unborn considers.

Not so distant,
Up-close letting of blood,
Unlike that of the past,
Refracts its blinding insurgent sheen
Into a rancid message mix,
Leaving little to imagine,
Save the ultimate density of death’s fusion,
The violent shroud quashing innocence.

The unborn perplexed,
Feels want of understanding,
Even as birth’s journey remains imminent,
Adding to the soon to be result:
Earth’s ant hill proliferation of humanity unabated.

Why, it wonders. Why such…

Ocular focus struggles,
For swirling above the earth,
Gases make yellow-gray the once blue-green oceans,
As life’s moisture rising from the seas,
Rapidly turns into tempest clouds of suffocation.

Atrocity lock-steps through streets,
Bludgeoning reason into back-alley shadows,
Rendering defenseless the ignorant,
Helpless the simple,
Impotent the accomplished.

As delivery draws near,
Parental smiles project egoistic welcome,
Prepare swaddling wraps of pride,
As accompanying intoxication
Keeps blind innate perception,
Obviating reality.

The once purity of white,
Having become but a flag of surrender,
Unknowingly makes ready the new lineage,
Knowing to experience evil’s blackness
Is to witness life’s light absorbed
Into a darkened void,
Reflecting nothing in return.
Becoming but a colorless palette.

Still…

Possibilities live.
We can change.

Many can improve the world in some way - but do they try to? The anser I have for that is Noone seems to care, much about each other, or sometimes even their family per se.

It always seems easier to tally the many flaws of mankind rather than to envision the necessary evolution closing one door and opening another. Given this, it is no wonder that it is so difficult to describe any brighter future. Is hope all that remains? M.True

Such a powerful and graphic piece, Odin. Very concrete considering the confusion and shadows of the age in which we live. The world as we have known it in our lifetime now recklessly unhinged and destabilised in every quarter. Friends and foes seem endlessly interchangeable on the chessboard of power-play. Like the way you counter this, still... I'll roll with the redemption of hope. xx

Change does take time on mankind's historical, hysterical rollacoasta.

The last two lines make sense. We are highly adaptive and can adapt to very severe situations based on history. And change, although very difficult for many, can happen very quickly when there is an absolute need for attitudes to change. Sometimes, it has to be an "up close and personal" experience for the inevitable could be seen.

Speaking of colorlessness, and the white color of purity, when things are placed out in the light of the purifying sun, they inevitably fade to white, the colorless color of light.
