Respecting our inner-innocence makes the risk of outer experience palatable. For reality-based courage will always provide rewards...regardless of the cost. (Image by Miro)

Carousel Reasoning
by Odin Roark
Our mind’s taste buds eroded,
bearing the sweetness of cotton candy happy,
swirling in delusion’s cocoon of anticipation,
coloring itself to fit desired moods,
served up by overweight testimonials,
and all in the name of Happy, Happy, Happy.
Longevity is not the trump card for tomorrow,
for euphoria of mind,
today's pandemic relationship with self,
most likely is fated for a refuse-crushing tomorrow.
Oh, the power of parch-throat-mirages…
BFFs to start,
die hard "On the Road" jock buddies for some
executive "Mad Men" rewards for others,
and always gold watches for time served,
assuming you make it to the desired watering hole.
Perpetuation is not golden…
For becoming tomorrow's
dumpster of limpid cones,
once swirling with fluffy sugar,
deception’s all sweetness of smiles,
in the innocence of childhood,
ultimately becomes nothing but
landfills of history.
Such a carnival of horrors this merry-go-round
of sweet-laced happiness we’re fed,
obviating reality,
for to truly know the sweetness of life,
one has to have experienced the bitter,
an admission price few are willing to pay.
Carousel reasoning.
Some of us LOL.
well done
