Undulating Pianos

Abstract art is many things to me, but if asked to pick a painting that lingers in my consciousness continually, it would be Marcia Baldwin’s grand piano rendering. We’re so used to the black ebony image, yet having studied piano at a very young age and majoring in music during my college years, there is more color to the instrument than many think. This is but a homage to its magnificence.

Undulating Pianos
by Odin Roark
The magnificent grand,
like Dali’s liquid clock of abstracted passage atop the branches,
stretches time and tone’s secrets downward
enhancing our heart felt yearning for rhapsody.
Perpetual rhythms of youth
merge with gratefulness
upon the austerity of our symphony's last movement…
forever in progress.
Knowing resonance subsides,
the luster of ebony’s pride
holds steady its memory amidst life’s swirling erosion,
even as damper pads remain loyal
retaining the melodies once alive
for those who listen.
To hear,
is to wonder,
to feel glistening heat of melody
morphing into another incarnation of nature’s perpetual motion,
the once calm tonality of a seedling,
now a struggling measure's beginning
moving toward a climax of the ever calm
tremolo of eternal movement.
Undulating pianos,
contrapuntal resonance,
merging life with death,
making inseparable all.
Blessings, Christine
I have a treasured original abstract of sailboats in Florida by June Ripley emblazoned with a purple night sky blending with the waterline so well that it draws one in.

To hear is to wonder. Colorful is the music that resonates.
Piano music is clear to the mind and simply profound. To sing with piano music is my inseparable movement of melody.
