Passion’s Luminance.
Comes…
Memories of summer skies bright,
The elegant poise of trees on a windless day,
The settled dust of less traveled back-road-acquiescence,
The crisscross shadows of life’s intersection signs to everywhere.
And so…
Life’s romance of yesterday,
A boarded-up history keeping past mistakes hidden,
Watches as combustion envelopes the roses,
Smothering the fragrance of love
Into but smoke and ash.
Still…
Love, the personification of longing,
Points its fracturing candela into the future,
Its luminous intensity sometimes gasping for a last chance,
As flickering amour proclaims it’s not dead yet.
Passion’s light may flicker,
But tenaciously it remains forever at the ready,
Knowing to infuse darkness with its luminance
Is its innate mission.
