Atonement's Dance Card

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

Thinking about a friend of mine evoked this personal and short free verse on what must go through the minds and hearts of certain beings having made grievous mistakes and are now paying their dues. But who knows? Are there any innocent? As history has suggested: Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. (Image by AP)

Atonement’s Dance Card

When pollen abounds,
beckoning across the stream,
invitation calls,
let us dance the dance.

For soon…

Love's children will come,
seeking what is known as
Nature's essence merging,
becoming one with,
everything beautiful.

Such might be the imaginings
of one from barred windows,
stretching visions beyond boundaries
of turret housed weapons,
accepting dark-walled meditation,
while razor wire dissuasion
adjudicates freedom in abeyance,
sorrow in exchange.

Someday…

Time might invite me too,
for atonement's dance card
patiently waits,
never filled,
remaining forever open

for the final dance.

I believe this poem of yours is excellent in exposing the ugly hidng witin the pollen of everyone who reads this, and even those who do not. We all, each and every one of us have pollen-like substances within, and around us. Thank you for bringing this out.

Yes! Who of us is without sin? My father would say he was chief of sinners but he had salvation. What a man! I sure love him to this day. Some people on the outside are in their own personal prisons. Which is worse, I wonder, Odin?

Love ya!

Jane
