Carnival Madness
He speaks of innocence,
As many inquire.
Countless watch with glee,
Though some wrinkle their brow.
Hordes clap their hands,
While closing their eyes,
Ears and conscience.
How insufferable must it be
To abandon integrity,
Avoid any enlightenment,
Leave desolate compassion's moisture,
Portray heart's need imprisoned?
Sentient cultivation,
Rendering humanity's irrigation so natural,
Emerges now so empty of tears.
Why do so many…
Languid eyes of patriotism lost,
Quashed intelligence and broken spirits
Nod their heads with saccharin smiles
And peer down from seats on high
Their compliant voices cheering on
This carnival of crippled principle?
Like a metronome winding down,
Slowly reminding all that time eventually stops,
When “for the better good” no longer matters,
As re-election becomes the only feeling power knows
Understands and bows to,
Will voters still hail Caesar,
Worship negativity as all there is,
Continue complicit numbness to prevail?
Will we all eventually become but stuffed dolls
Waiting to be won in tomorrow’s carnival madness?
Love ya!
