So Little Left

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

So many in the country face the throws of no paycheck, no unemployment, no life-line. Being one of comfort, albeit Spartan, I can’t help but wonder what the smallest acknowledgment of their existence might mean for their tomorrow. (Image by pinterest)

Poem Artwork

So Little Left

Like a tire-less pickup truck in the weeds

Coupling rusted disassembled stove and fridge

Adorning a front yard in fogged gray

Outside a dilapidated “starter” of better days

Where plastic sheets adorn broken windows

Following beer bottle lobbing on a drunken binge

During fireworks night in July

Or was that a 12 gauge I heard

Police inquiry

A Keystone Cops routine for the night

Boredom’s throw-away hour

Once just a quiet recluse

Now visiting the pound

Bringing home a junk-yard crazy giveaway

Keeping his bits-and-pieces-world company

Barking at all comers

Including the postman

Sliding a rare acknowledgment into the mailbox

Soft pink in color

So many people are disadvantaged now during this incredible pandemic; one wonders where/when it will all end. It could be much worse than what you describe here, much worse.
