Nature’s Moods
With the wind mixing 4 mph with 14 mph
The leaves of the backyard trees bounce against one another
Making both entertainment for me
And hurricane-like disruption for one of the smallest of us
The ants
Some caught exploring the leafy landscape in the rain
While buddies huddled between the deep ravines of tree bark
Wind and water whipping vegetation into a frenzy
Throwing tiny creatures from leaf to leaf
Some falling to the rivulet ground cover
The price paid by adventurous little ones
Little feet fast-peddle flooding environment
Reminding us how futile our own lives can become
In a climate of surprise
Unpredictable hot air
Gusts of insecurity
Squalls of whiny noises
And yes…
Twisters of virus-missions
Deposited any and everywhere
Challenging various physical laws
Even as our smallest creatures
Deal with the honesty of Nature
The present unbridled tempest of aggression
Like the ant
We ponder our own kind of rescue
The who or what capable of raising the sails of liberation
Escape from the whirlwind of hurt, pain and death
And provide survival for the ant
Rationality for us humans
Respect for the new storms to come
You are right, the more we get in tune with nature, the better off we'll be.
