When one least expects it, pain and wounds are the gateways to learning more of who we are. (Image by Pinterest)

Growing Into Oneself

Why does discovery take its time?

Why do predators prey upon one’s honesty,

The dispassionate upon one’s compassion,

The opportunist upon one’s generosity?

Might it be…

A lesson needing to be learned

Uttered with the voice from within?

For like the cocoon of nature

So too are aspects of human design

Allowing patience and faith

To energize the authenticity of one,

Where like the processing of the cocoon,

The tightness of isolation and confinement

Infuses the awakening of the soul,

Where the heart takes flight.

Like the butterfly of birth

Celebrating the growth into itself,

The yin/yang of nature and humankind

Are able to discover the whole being

In its entirety.

Suddenly…

Energy by design

Reveals acceptance,

Safety,

Gratitude,

Love.

Having become one’s real self,

Undaunted by what people might think,

Knowing the beauty inside the darkness of the cocoon,

And the light dawning the birth,

Is designed for growth beyond pain,

Where sadness and despair abate.

Such is the light always patient,

Always ready to steal one away

To discover one’s authentic self,

The one born of truth.

Such a beautiful and wise poem. Purity comes from pain, the purity of becoming who we were created to be.

I recently discovered something about myself that no amount of introspection could have ever revealed. It came to me from scientific research that cast my past in a completely new light. I will be sorting through it and dealing with it much as you have stated. It could have a very profound change on what lies ahead. As usual, you were somehow out ahead of the rest of us.

It takes many ‘peelings of the onions layers, often through adversity
to discover our true authenticity,
to finally reveal our true selves, regardless of the opinions of others..

The rich reward is self acceptance, self worth, and to know “the beauty inside
the darkness of the cocoon” …
where freedom from pain encourages and nurtures further
discovery of our true authentic self…

"Know thyself" written over the portal on the temple of Delphi. First knowledge, then perhaps love. The problem is, we don't know ourselves. If we did, we wouldn't be a bundle of conflicting thoughts and emotions totally out of control. First knowledge, then love.

When one can love oneself without reliance on external sources of love, then one is free to discover "one's authentic self." And, I believe love externally, far better for being patient.
