Freedom as Oxymoron
Like a wild stallion
Running void of barriers,
Void of confinement,
Void of attachment,
Void of commitment.
A long run
Inevitably confronts a fence or wall of sorts,
The kind often jumpable,
The kind that may represent further freedom beyond.
But…
What of the kind of barrier once jumped
Becomes liberty’s threat,
A time continuum
For long distances without borders,
The kind that suggests protection,
Often ignoring the loneliness
Of the long-distance duration of time.
Is the quest to find freedom or to acquire security?
Or is freedom a part of security?
For if existence be void of boundaries,
Might floating in both an ethereal realm
And a tangible illumination
Bring about a sense of eternal?
Still…
Does such a conundrum
Beg oxymoronic consideration,
That freedom’s security
Is but a tenuous way station of momentary rest
As infinity’s grand journey
Prepares the continuance of tomorrow’s mock speed gallop?
