Time's Shutter Blade

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

Discovering complexity’s permanence is just beginning to be understood. If the matter in the Universe is unending, life and all its constituents remain a part of perpetuity's quintessential parenthood.

Poem Artwork

Time’s Shutter Blade

How fragile
The skeleton of existence.

It knows no boundaries,
This ofttimes enigmatic indentation,
Venturing through the heart valves of the continuum.

Boisterous its beat,
Resonance its mission ,
Knowing only open boundaries,
Acquiescence to its long extinct option…

 stillness.

Awakening drives its form,
Arresting air,
Moisture,
Soil,
Storm,
Whether by condensation
Or mud of tearful passions unleashed,
Traces exist,
Some hardened,
Others fluid,
Vying to reveal the What of Is,
Ushering in the When of Why.

Yet …

Risking any and all,
The mind of Being knows not chance as a gamble,
It has been here before,
Will continue to be here in perpetuity.

Nature's birth happens,
Its endurance never vanishing,
Only receding,
Making room,
For tomorrow's new imprints.

So elusive is this sometimes-ethereal intercourse,
This beacon of positive form remaining tranquil
Awaiting the click of Time's shutter blade,

Knows only to allow darkness

The birth of light.

More writings are surfacing about universal concepts, unity, oneness…is there something we are all feeling, like The Voice, I wonder? Space/Time continuum? This writing of yours encompasses all of those elements, and I like your “The mind of Being knows…” (with a capital B), so expansive and elastic, “…never vanishing,/Only receding,” ~~ djl

A unique way of holding up time for inspection ("the skeleton of existence)" has got to be a most unique way of looking at it. "Knowing only open boundaries", yes, except when it comes to the concept of eternity. Then it seems like a closed continuum indeed. A very expressive piece.

Anyone who observes the abundant life on our small planet quickly learns that life is short but new life from mutation is constantly created making every one of us a building block for the future of the universe. And the use of the camera's shutter is an allegory for how new life is born "to see the light" and old life is extinguished to become part of the building blocks of the next "new."

However, if you're using that image, the title would more likely be Time's Shatter Blade. ;-)
