Lament's Paradox

by Odin odin@aflx.com — Read all 3,869 poems by Odin odin@aflx.com

“Since the early 18th century, scientists have used nictitating membrane to describe the so-called "third eyelid": the thin, usually transparent membrane in the eyes of birds, fishes, and other vertebrates that helps keep the eyeball moist and clean.” – Merriam Webster – Would that more of us could accept that with every sorrorw, there is a joy waiting to happen.

Lament’s Paradox

What devilish plot expectancy’s oasis conjures

How brazen the eyesight determinant

As life’s desert storms of sorrow implode without warning

Challenging the very life of the nictitating membrane

Without which

Tearful joy could not overcome weeping’s saturate sorrow

Although not very often, I have experienced myself weeping over both sorrow and happiness. Certainly a strange paradox.

Indeed, the cause and the need for tears are multiple and flow of their own will since "tearful joy could not overcome weeping's saturate sorrow."
