Revisiting Trust


To not be trusted
Is to be cast
Into a darkness
Where light is never seen,
Where the beloved’s breathing,
Sleeping,
Silken skin,
Is forever never’s revenge.

Without trust,
Time places the me
Beneath covers of awaiting darkness,
Where future is dreamed,
Never seeing the light.

Those who never know trust
Delude the heart into false motion,
Nurturing beats that slowly implode into silence,
Realizing not life,
But a vanishing infatuation.

Trust
Is love’s only armor,
Whether of beast,
Or plant,
Or our species’ state of mind.

Impenetrable by arrow,
Or lance,
Or agenda,
Trust knows only conviction,
That which is right,
Knowing the wrong,
Needing protection,
Will ultimately succumb,
To its own poisoning reversal.

To wear it on one’s lapel
As one drinks in the other’s eyes
Denies blinking as an option.

Trust is virtual,
Accepting only essence as companion,
Enabling non-judgmental expectation
To be realized...sometimes.
