Awakened Love
In the undulating air of a hot summer day,
I ventured forth seeking quiet truth,
When I fell for a motionless old woman
Smiling calmly while sitting on the bus bench
Having conversation with…
I know not.
Might it have been love?
Heat oppressing,
I wandered further away to
The beach where its cooler presence
And Sand Piper nodding,
Pecking,
Running,
Being,
Reminded me love comes in all sizes,
Shapes,
And sounds.
A visceral profusion of awareness timelessly in wait for the asking.
These kinds of innocent realities
Are the heart’s treasure trove of love,
Without the need for gifts,
Forced words of persuasion,
Void of having to amend
Or excuse unread or unwritten messages.
Love of the apple blossom flowers,
Its sharing of aromatic fragrance,
Asking nothing in return.
So many ways to love
Where covetous behavior need not be a factor
And acceptance of simplicity remains compatible
With the often complexity of purpose.
A place of solace…
Allows my love to experience the wingspan of the protector,
The spirit of hope,
The smile of peace,
The exhalation of kindness and its sweet breath,
A love of that which is often unnoticed,
The nakedness of the heart’s generosity unabated,
That state of emotion is likely the place of
Awakened Love.
I love almost everything for its existence and hate hardly anything except a harsh word said in anger rather than reason.
