You Asked


You Asked...
As my tears fell upon the earth,
Why I felt the need to cry,
When I saw the quick fading beauty of the rose...


Within that rose, I saw life,
Mine, Yours, Theirs and ours-
It's prophecy of renowned royalty-
destroyed by nature,
an entire span of life, in a few short hours


You asked...
As my tears fell upon the earth,
Why I felt the need to cry,
when I saw the storm clouds cover the sun


Within those moments, I knew fear,
I was without promise, dream or hope-
Left blinded by sudden darkness-
Tomorrow stripped from my palm,
immediately, I couldn't cope


You asked...
As my tears fell upon the earth,
Why I felt the need to cry,
when I saw the face of a lonely child


On his face I saw pain,
Not from injury or wound,
I saw a hurt festering deep inside,
Then I experienced helplessness,
for I knew anger would overcome him soon


As my tears fell upon the earth,
There was no question why-
For I turned to find you gone-
without even a whisper of, goodbye

As my tears fell upon the earth,
There was no question why-
For I turned to find you gone-
without even a whisper of, goodbye

This poem squeezed my heart and left it aching, Lisa. Such intense images and so much emotion, color your smooth and flowing verses. You have done such a beautiful job on this that I felt like I was the person in your poem left in the end with only tears and an empty place in my heart.

With a display as beautiful as the colorful picture, you describe the "why" for so many tears that women (but not limited to them) the world over shed freely. Emotional statements...

A touching poem, without being a touchy-feeling poem. That I like and that is difficult to bring to surface. You delved into your psyche for this one and it shows. Saddness all around. Depressing, but still, darn good stuff.
