This is such an empowering poem, Lisa and one that should be hung on the walls of all schools. Every child should heed your wisdom and not try so hard to grow up too fast. If we would take the time to teach our children well and give them proper time to be children, I believe that they would become better, well adjusted adults and arrive at their adulthood at a more appropriate time; not as a teen parent at 14. The future of the world lies in the children. I pray that we don't let them down or fail to offer them the encouragement that they need and deserve. Excellent writing and perhaps one of your very best, though I believe I say that everytime I read one of your poems as you just continue to outdo yourself with each new offering. I am saving this, it is simply beautiful!

Lisa, That first line, repeated at the end, is a delicious concept to send them off with. Though splendidly poetic, its depth comes from its simplicity.

"Allow those that love you,
to love you..."
