For We Can Touch Them Still

While there is breath;
There is life-
Waste not the moments-
For we can touch them still

Stroke the cheek with a tender palm;
Sip their tears with thirst-
Take the hand that once held you close-
For we can touch them still

Let not pain; anger; weariness;
barricade what is yours to share-
Hurdle the mountains; Dream with fullness-
For we can touch them still

When breath slips finally away;
Into the eves of once upon a time-
Take the gift of all they gave-
For we can touch them still

Live in their Love; Laughter; and Smiles;
Cherish what is yours to keep-
Reach into the spirit; That well of memories;
For we can touch them still

Open your heart; Let them live again;
Through kindness; Allow sorrow to pass-
Gift to them a dream once shared-
For we can touch them...still

This is a stunning poem peppered with words of great wisdom and heartfelt verses, written in your amazingly graceful style. It is another keeper of yours for my library. To waste away days in sorrow, when it is our time to live, does not honor those who gave us life or those who had to leave us too soon. We need to learn to honor their life, as that is what is so very important, not how or when they passed. To live by and love their lessons, that our life may be easier than theirs was, does more to honor their memory and their wishes than anything else. Love doesn't stop when a heart no longer beats, "For we can touch them...still."
Take care,
Sherry

Visions of A Skylark Dressed in Black by Aberjhani
