If you could be anything, what would you be and why? My challenge to all poets is to ponder this question and then write a poem about it.

Poem Artwork

If I Could (Joseph’s Challenge)

If I could be a whisper on the wind
Words of love my lot to send
My life would be one filled with joy
As I’d send a message from a lover, coy

If I could be an arrow in Cupid’s bow
A shot of love I would bestow
To every person with lonely eyes
Filling them with loving sighs

If I could be the blush upon a rose
Of which poets write such lovely prose
I could inspire their words to all mankind
To shape our world with hearts that bind

If I could be a Peaceful Dove
Soaring proudly in the sky above
I’d drop my feathers on all below
That peace and freedom they all could know

If I could be a tree full of blossom
With fruit of promise so very awesome
I’d feed the souls who pass me by
That with a hungry heart no man should die

If I could know rebirth as something new
You ask me what it is I’d do
I’d do all in my power to teach everyone
That peace and love should reign under our sun

My goodness, Sherry, I do believe you have single-handedly, with pen in hand, refreshed, enlightened, calmed and now delivered the very lovliest moment of my morning.

Your words are soft... they make me believe, they transport. I especially loved the last verse... 'peace and love reign'... Sigh... just imagine! Reading this was not just a joy, it was a gift. You've exceeded all expectations. Very cool! katy xox

A very creative challenge entry, Sherry, and my favorite stanza:

If I could be a tree full of blossom
With fruit of promise so very awesome

If I could know what Joseph's challenge was it wouldn't make any difference as to how I feel about this poem. You covered all the necessary bases to make life beautiful and peaceful and you did it with you usual class act.
