Wave on Wave
Far offshore,
a man glides in a kayak,
seeking nothing.
Water hugs him sweetly,
unlike the rope that broke
his mother.
Boulders and rocks
keep him and the river
from breaching boundaries.
He barely remembers her,
snug in the kayak
nearing the rapids.
He free-falls into the frothy loom,
as though tumbling
from a new blue womb.
