This one brought my tears. A portrait of the special worship and unconditional love only a dog can give. If that is her picture Ellie was truly beautiful inside and out.
I had a black lab named "Pal". I loved him so much and was heartbroken when at 6 months he got out of the yard and got run over by a car. He was so special. It is heartbreaking when they die of old age and more so when they are just starting out in life.

Ed...when I was a kid, I had a dog like that. Money can't buy that kind of devotion. Now I have cats. I love them dearly, but the way they "bring it" is completely different from a dog. I wouldn't give up my cats for anything, but there is something special about a dog's unconditional love.
Moved me to tears, as I remembered my last gentleman I layed down. I now have three more to comfort my soul daily. Their talking eyes and smiles make me laugh daily! They bring such joy to me!
Oh my...this brought tears...what an incredibly lucky human being you were to have been worshiped by this beautiful lady. I'm so sorry for your loss. My own little Allie is 14 now and she has bladder cancer and the beginning of renal failure...she's on pain killers and wears diapers and seems to be doing great. But when the time comes we certainly won't let her suffer. She has given us fourteen years so far of complete love and loyalty and we've given her our hearts.
Sweet and deep - I've loved dog stories (and dogs) since before I read White Fang as a sixth grader. I have a cemetery full of such great companions and thank you for adding yet another to my library. If only our relationships with other humans could be so simple and honorable. The style of your poem is simple, thoughtful and loving, as well. Here's to Ellie, and you.

I had to give my Rufuz up due to my sickness and his biting someone, but while we were together life was always bliss...He loved the beach as do I and we went everywhere together...dogs are great, wish I still had one...the picture is really cute...e

I am soooo sorry about Ellie's passing. My German Shepherd, Otto, had many of her qualities. No human can be so selfless and adoring.
When I was on a 2 month business trip in Canada, he went to the end of my driveway and sat every evening for 60+ days, waiting for me to show up for supper.
