We fill in the blanks
We leap to conclusions
We judge
And judge
And judge.
We cannot tolerate
Our state of not knowing
And we simply
Will not budge.
That makes us ripe
For charlatans
And priests
With sleight of hand
They fill our heads
And empty our pockets
Then fill them up again
With sand.
God grant us wisdom
God grant us strength
God grant us anything
To ease the pain
Of lives once lived
Like a bell that
Will not ring.
Why must we always
Be the ones
To bear the brunt
Of these endless bitter things?
We kneel
We pray
We sing our songs
We give
And give
And give.
And when all is
Said and done
We find our
Pain to amount
Only to an infinitesimal dot
On the cosmic scale of things.

Our penalty for
Being such dumkopfs is…
We get to do it all again?
Interesting poem. Man was first taught the false doctrine of reincarnation by our common Adversary about four thousand years ago. The Lord said we'd only live once, to be followed by an eternal judgment. Jesus Christ came to rescue us from sin and death, to give us a genuine and certain hope. Satan still opposes the truth, but God is the victor, game over. As this poem states though, many false religions prey on those still help captive by our common Enemy in ignorance and unbelief. I like this poem because it is well written and is very thought-provoking. Thanks for sharing!
A fine summation with a biting tho not bitter twist. It slips very neatly into my Author's Den library. Thanks - somehow it makes me feel optimistic. Maybe I won't be so gullible next time.
Very thought provoking write. Man claims to have conquered the world. However, the more we think we know the less we truly know. I know nothing except what I see, feel, hear, smell, taste and read. You could hate me but you truly don't even know me. Reincarnation is a very real possibility. Truth is stranger than fiction. Amen
I'm pretty certain I have lived before as memories of certain events seem to stay in my head, I just hope that this is the last life and that I have found my enlightenment to move on to another kind of life...-e-
