Galileo and the Covid-19 virus

Poem Artwork

I Have Loved the Stars too Fondly

It was the Winter of our discontent
Owned by a swirling mass of invisible death warrants
The numbers of victims mounted
To unparalleled mountains of pain.

But our will to live
Refused to die and in our
Collective efforts
We would not be taken down by
A virus’ gnawing jaws or its
Gnashing teeth.

In our moment of
Darkest vulnerability
We fought back.
We survived
And now we are
Recovering.

Angelic hands and
The minds of reason
Crushed the voices of doom.
Recovery still means
Effort determination and
Patience.

The power of the human mind
Plus the will to live
Supersede ignorance
Indifference and
Mockery.

It is a lesson for today
Tomorrow and
For all time.

Yes you certainly do love female singing stars a bit too much… Nevermind…

The pandemic is certainly an exercise in human psychology. Fortunately, there are people like you and I wish for our lives to continue and follow the strict guidelines of experts in an effort to avoid the consequences, some of them very long term, of contracting the Coronavirus.

It would be foolish not to take the scientific route, but we have, perhaps half the population feels that they are superior and can avoid such tragedy been following them in their own self superiority.

All hail to the vaccine makers! Down with the rumor mongers…

Mark Twain thought humans were no better or worse than cockroaches. It's true, I think, in nature all creatures are equal. The drive to survive keeps us going in spite of our mistakes. Thanks for sharing!

A FINE WORK! INDEED, THANK GOD THERE'S A LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL! I DON'T KNOW, BUT 'LIFE' HAS HUMBLED ME CONSIDERABLY AND I'VE COME TO THE PLACE WHERE I REFUSE TO TAKE ANY CREDIT FOR MY EXISTENCE HERE. SO, THE FOURTH STANZA IS MY FAVORITE FOR SURELY, MANDATED, ANGELIC HANDS FROM ABOVE HAS BROUGHT US...AND WILL TAKE US...THROUGH. THANK, EDWARD. LOVE, BLESSINGS AND FAITH...HIS+INSPIRATIONS

A fine poem that meets this moment of hardship that we are all collectively suffering. Thank you for this message of hope.

Indeed- Such a lesson, which you've poeticized beautifully, is one that engenders hope and trust in the human spirit and tenacity to live. You've still got the chops for words, poet and essayist. This is going to be maybe your best year yet. That I choose to believe. Write on.

Virus X by Frank Ryan

Where do viruses, such as Ebola and HIV, come from and why they are so aggressive? This book changed tenets of evolutionary virology, developing the concepts of aggressive symbiosis and plague culling, which explain much of the horror of plague virus

Darwin's Blind Spot by Frank Ryan

The symbiotic pattern of evolution is everywhere and allows us a very different and fascinating window into the way symbiotic viruses work, since all viruses are symbiotic, including those involved in our human reproduction.
