I'M IN LOVE

A lot of people who know about my love life which ran into the ditch, like a car with faulty brakes and a busted tire, have always wondered if I would ever love a woman again.

Well I am here to tell you that I am not afraid about anything other than falling in love with the wrong person again. And after four years of being single, I am happy to announce that I've fallen in love again, and this time, it feels so right to be with the right lady, and trust me its worth the wait.

It all started on this beautiful morning, the sun as at 9:00am was blazing hot, the birds chirped their way to the solace of the giant trees for cover from the scorching rays. For about half an hour, my neighbours from the other rooms trudged around with one activity or the other in preparation for work.

Mama Chika, the food vendor; was ready to spice up the day with her sumptuous meals of fried and jollof rice, laced with creamy coleslaw. The school bus hummed into the neighbourhood, and the purple coloured uniforms of the elementary school kids poured out in their tens like original honey from an amber bottle into it; and in minutes the yellow bus, with an estimated capacity of about 150 kids zoomed off to the other end of the street.

That was always the routine every morning. Mama Chika waking me like a rooster to her mouth watering meal, four couple pairs preparing for the day's hustle; the blaring speakers of the mosque blaring the roll call for prayers; the yellow school bus swallowing the primary school kids in their tens; the birds chirping for cover from the blazing sun.

However, this beautiful morning the routine was altered by this beautiful lady, with a sleek and slender shape. Her lips draped in a flush of red lip gloss. She really was an epitome of beauty, and I wondered how I had been able to live in this small community without noticing this raw beauty; as I watched her carry herself like an empress.

It dawned on me that I had allowed the claws of pain and disappointment from my previous relationship ruin my chances of meeting a beautiful woman. I failed to realise, that the exit of Roseline - my ex, from my life wasn't the end of it afterall. A window may close so that a door opens. Roseline had given me a wrong side of life concerning relationships, and I had secluded myself from women for years until this lady comes across my eye like a laser beam.

I wasn't a fan of Mama Chika's meal, but something in me told me it would be foolish of me if I let this opportunity slip by. This lady moved towards her shed, where men, dressed in expensive suit, dissuaded their colourful ties from their collars to allow the free flow of the rice and coleslaw mix. They were so engrossed like they were spellbound, with beads of sweat lacing their foreheads, that they hadn't noticed the presence of this pretty lady. In one swift moment, I got well dressed, picked up my plate and off to Mama Chika's joint.

She halted, like the governor had arrived her shop, and pursed her lips as she stared at me in amazement. I understood her glaring look. It was exactly four years in that compound, and it was my first time I would decide, that her food was the best option for me that morning. Fortunately, I was next on the queue after this dream lady of mine, and in minutes,we got chatting and laughing at our jokes.

Ten years have gone by and I'm happy I found the love of my life. The woman who fit in, hook, line and sinker - my writing career. I thank God for my journey in writing so far and it feels so good to be in love with my vocation. A girl may be pissed of with me and not have my time, but my pen and ink? They would never disappoint me.

So if you are disappointed by people often, or you have had failed relationships, it's high time you need to work on yourself and stop getting depressed because someone dumped you. There's someone so unique and valuable in your life, and that's you!

So, take the bull by the horn, search deep within yourself and discover who you really are. Your life is not meant to be tied to a boyfriend or girlfriend. Let your goals be your lover and get tied to them.

Don't lose yourself trying to satisfy someone, but rather it's better to lose the right people you need to and then discover yourself.

Always remember!

You are the only one who can make you happy. Your life isn't attached to someone else to make you feel great, rather let your greatness get the right people attached to you.

Some good advice in this article/story. I think when one stops looking so hard for a soulmate, one comes along. As you stated, it's only when we begin to love ourselves that we can find love with others.
