My hospital experience for a knee replacement

Ten years ago i had to get a knee replacement so i went to NYC hospital

and had it done.  I was very out of it, but, came too long enough to hear the

nurse say to the doctor "where ahould we put her?".  He quietly answered

ICU.  I laid there and just Prayed i will trust and not be afraid and passed out.

When I woke up I was fine.  They told me I had pnemonia and it was gone.

After a few days they tranfered me to a rehab in Brooklyn.  I was so happy

because I was close to home and my fsmily and friends could visit me.  The

first thing that went wrong was I lost my cell phone and I was so lost.  My

friend came to the rehab and had a housephone hooked up for me.  Then

she called me a hundred times a day.  We couldn't have visitors during

the day, only at lunchtime so my friend Louie came and ate with me.

All of a sudden the nurse yells out to me pack up you are going to the

hospital.  This rehab was a hospital and rehab. This rehab you couldn't do

anything unless you were in your wheelchair. I uses to get up at 3:00 in

the morning to wash my hair if I were having visitors.  Poor Louie felt so

bad  he blamed himself for some reason.  I told him to stop and go home.

They moved me to the hospital room and right away I knew that I wasn't

going to get along with the nurse.  They worked on me like a regular

patient and i told them I just had a knee replacement and couldn't walk or

stand.  I should be having Pt . Next thing she does is tell me to pee in a

cup. Then I went crazy.  My primary doctor worked there and I called him

and he brought in PT until I got better the pnemonia came back but it was

almost gone. All  this time i was alone in this room but now they brought in

a new patient. A young girl that was very nice but she was very sick.

We had a long conversation and we both fell asleep.  I am a diabetic and I

started dreaming the room was on fire . I ran into the hall without my gown

it was hanging off me screeming don't you people see the smoke and

passed outi.  Needless to say that young girl was scared of me and the

nurse could wait to get ridge of me. I finally got better and went back to

rehad  where I had a nut in my room now.  Thank God she went home.
