TWENTY CLUES TO COMMON SENSE

- Don’t try to grow pineapples in Alaska or the Sahara dessert; but give it your all everywhere else; just try hard not to have definite expectations that will just disappoint you about how much fruit you’ll get, or how juicy it will be.
- Don’t waste your time going grocery shopping when you’re hungry or have to pee; you’ll either get too much or too little, never just right, plus having a likely accident.
- Don’t go camping if you don’t like the cold, damp, hard ground, many inconveniences and strange noises, but if you don’t, learn how to. You probably need to.
- Pick the best time to say “no” at least once a day and figure out how to say “yes” the other 75% of the time. That way you’ll have a 1/4th of the day to choose.
- Indulge in something outrageously spectacular, at least every once in awhile just to let yourself know you can do it, knowing very well that you definitely can’t afford it and don’t want to be reminded after you’ve done it. But so what?
- Never try to cook when you don’t know what you want to eat. You’ll end up with an empty cupboard and aching stomach and be frustrated to boot for wasting so much effort for no results. And you are still hungry.
- If you think about something you forgot, it won’t go away until you do it. So you might as well do it; then you can think about something else you need to do and forget it too.
- There is so much to do and so little time to do it, so you better get busy and figure out how to get it done; one very good suggestion is to get busy so you’ll figure it out in time to do it.
- The most serious conflict in life is deciding what to give up; when you see it is your pride about being right, you won’t be giving up anything but getting everything. Someway this is too abstract, yet too concrete to miss.
- If you can’t see beauty in a broken window, a dilapidated old barn or a leafless oak tree, you aren’t seeing what you’re looking at.
- If you think you are spiritual but not religious, you are neither.
- Listen to the loudest things you say to others; aren’t they really for you? Of course they are!
- There is only one definition of a friend: He or she makes you feel good.
- A lot of things get said in many ways, but they can usually be understood in a fewer ways.
- Responsibility is littering something you can’t figure out what to do with and then going and doing what is right by putting it in its correct place, with nobody looking.
- Leave a little time in between flushing the toilet and taking a shower. We all know what that means, but rarely acknowledge the timing.
- There are some lessons that are never learned, like eating or drinking close to the computer key board. Oh well!
- If you try to remember too much or plan too many things, you won’t have enough room left to live now, presently recalling the past with fondness and hoping for the future with longing and living enough now.
- Why is it that when we see love, we get blinded and miss it? That is a sad mistake we never quite get over,
- Every time you think you have a list completed, it is really just beginning. There isn’t an end to anything.
