Ever wonder why English is so difficult to learn?
Too many Exceptions?

CONJUGATION Of VERBS ...
And Other "Stuff"

Tom Hyland - (C) - 7/22/15

Remember those Wonderful days of Yesteryear?
When we were Kids in School ...
And had to Memorize all those Magnificent Rules ...
And Exceptions ... of the English Language ?

How about the various forms of the verb "to Be" ...

Am, Be, Is, Are, Was, Were, Been ...
Have, Has, or Had To Be ...
Shall, Will Be !

Present Tense:

I Am.
You Are.
He, She, or It Is.

Past Tense:

I Was.
You Were.
He, She, It Was.

We Were.
You (plural) Were.
They Were.

Present Perfect:

I Shall Be.
You Shall Be.
He, She, It Shall Be.

Past Perfect:

I Will Be.
You Will Be.
He, She, It Will Be.

Future Perfect:

I Shall Have Been.
You Will Have Been.
He, She, It Will Have Been.

We Shall Have Been.
You (plural) Will Have Been.
They Shall / Will Have Been?

DUH ?

Are You Getting the Picture?

" i before e, except after c,
as in receipt ...
or when followed by g,
as in reign "

DOUBLE DUH ?

This brings us to the other "Stuff" ...

As my automatic SSA Retirement Benefit is deposited
The fourth Wednesday of every month ...
I jokingly refer to it as ...
"The Eagle Shits!"

So, as of 12:01 am this morning ... IT SHAT !

My 'fractured' conjugation of the word "shit" ...

Present Tense:

I Shit.
You Shit.
He, She, It Shits.

We Shit.
You (plural) Shit.
They Shit.

Past Tense:

I Shat in the Toilet.
You Shat in your pants!
He Shat in the Woods.

Future Imperfect:

I Shall Have Been Shut.
You Will Have Been Shut.
He, She, It Might Have Maybe Been Shut.

Et cetera ... et cetera ... et cetera ...

Ergo ... Shit - Shat - Shut ...

DISCLAIMER :

No Accuracy Whatsoever Is Claimed for Any of the Above Crap!

No Googling or Research Was Ever Done!

Should-a ... Could-a ... Would-a ...

CONJUGATION ?

(C) - TKH.

After I stopped laughing… After 16 years (through college) of English, I had completely forgotten conjugation. I'm so glad you reminded me. Still, somewhere along those years I memorized those rules, perhaps back when my mind was pliable to language.

As for defecation, to be polite. If a bear shat in the woods, should I worry? I would say, No. However, if he shit, instead, I would get mighty worried because it would be in the present tense… Mighty tense, I'd say.

Thanks for the lesson in how to detect whether a bear is dangerous or not. ;-)

You brought back those golden rule school days of conjugating verbs. Remember diagraming sentences? Especially those two-deckers.
