Why did I chose to read this book?

I was doing some research on mountain ranges when I ran across this book. Because it was public domain there was no description. So I took a chance. I am so glad I did.

Being that society was different back then, I was really impressed with his style of writing. Today we call this style of writing Deep POV.

What did I like best about the book?

The best part was that I could picture every word he wrote. The pages came alive with adventure.

What did I like least about the book?

That it was the only book I could find written by him.

From the Book:

The Begining it paints a picture of Marion Gaylord’s surroundings and her mind set. Quickly her attitude is set when she mets Philip Haig, the land owner.

“Good! We arrive by the devious ways that women love. Perhaps you’ll give me the answer now that you should have given in the first place. How did you get here?”

My comment: Remember this is wrote in 1916 where women always did what the man said. But not this character.

Brief example of how he shows the weather:

“Out of the portentous hush (not into it) there came first a whisper, something low and malevolent; then a singular moaning sound, incomparably dismal and hollow and pervasive.”
