The “Third World War on Terrorism” declared by President Bush was “patriotic” in the strict sense that it was motivated by "love of one's country." The president’s rhetoric, dutifully hawked by Congress, parroted by the jingoistic media, and echoed by the overwhelming majority of patriotic Americans at the outset of the pre-emptive or non-defensive hence unjust war, constituted the verbal apotheosis of jingoism in the name of the ancient tribal war-god.

The ancient barbarian warlords dragged their pagan idol through the village; all who did not capitulate were decapitated or otherwise murdered. The first cause for the being of the neo-barbarian administration figure-headed by President Bush was to allure Americans into continuing the war on Iraq where his family’s patriarch had stood down and left off – Behold, the finger of the son shall be greater than the thigh of the father.

The younger Commander-in-Chief’s claim, that his war on Iraq was a Christian war or a war somehow defending the Christian faith was politically motivated, self-serving rhetoric, and caused him to be correctly perceived as a bigoted fanatic throughout the world, particularly by those fanatics who enjoy taking the Adversary’s fanaticism to task. Mr. Bush certainly did not represent the early Christianity of the Stranger, the Apostle of Unadulterated Love. Indeed, Mr. Bush came as the homophobic prince of this world, to fulfill the law of tooth and claw, giving lip-service to the talion principle of eye for eye and tooth for tooth – his talion, tale or accounting was a pack of lies.

The avenging super-patriot whose eyes proudly gleamed when he called himself “a war president,” just as they had shone during his candidacy when he bragged that his political hero was Jesus and that he had had no mercy on capital-crime convicts in Texas, did not represent truth, justice, and mercy: no, he represented the interests of the self-righteous, right-wing power elite whose group-love is hate-others-based-love, a power elite that would fain own and operate America in order to maintain and expand their vested interests – they simply took the unknown god’s name in vain to tempt the religious and further confuse the “moral” majority’s confusion of love and sex with war and violence.

The more property the super-patriot amasses, the more shall he love his country and need its police and military force to defend his spread. Of course people who hold much less property than he does may go along with him and fight to defend his interests out of concern for their small share of the national wealth, especially if they believe that the prevailing system provides even a slim chance for every poor slob educated in its ways to get rich; however, their material concern is not, strictly speaking, a religious concern. President Bush’s effort to identify the political-economic interests of the United States with the religious interest in god was absurd; that is, unless one equates religion with the secular worship of absolute power, to be distributed according to the political theology of private capitalism, a competitive war of all against all until an oligopoly or monopoly is established and maintained by subservient worker and soldier units. That is not to say that the cogs of such a machine cannot be happy cogs, generally speaking, at least until the power-mongers develop delusions of grandeur and spread delusions of persecution among them, throttling them up to war and all it entails, including, perchance, a catastrophic mechanical breakdown.

Revenge for 9/11 and the fear of further criminal attacks motivated Americans to take their elected president’s cue and jump the gun on Iraq. Many did in fact feel the time was meet to greet jihad with crusade; hence they could have cared less which pretext the administration used to go to war. But the World Trade Center was not a spiritual temple, nor is the Pentagon. When professed Christians were bold enough to dispense with political correctness to insist that their mundane messiah had involved America in a religious conflict of crusade versus jihad, they helped America’s foremost deceiver blaspheme the god he had professed with falsehoods.

On Independence Day 2002, President Bush said patriotism was a "living faith." The god of Christianity must indeed be dead then, or the president had lost touch with his Christian roots, for faith in nations is anathema to original Christianity – indeed, patriotism is the death of Christian love. Therefore, not only was the patriotism of the Bush administration war-mongering and jingoistic, it was rooted in an anti-Christian or satanic agenda as well. Patriotism as a "living faith" worships the primitive land-god of fear and hate rather than the man-god of love and forgiveness.

Although the war turned sour and bitter for the vociferous lot who sounded the war cry until it resounded among the majority, many Americans did not appreciate the exercises in Bush-bashing: they objected to any thesis casting President Bush as the Devil incarnate presiding over a cabinet of devils. Furthermore, red-blooded Americans did not like to hear their president, no matter who he might be, called a “liar and a murderer.” Such name-calling, in their opinion, was juvenile and uncivilized, no matter how true the names were to the misbehavior so oft contemned by prophets, and presumably doomed by their god in the final analysis as well as in the first place. Strictly speaking, ‘murder’ is not the right word for mass murder made legal: ‘killing’ is the appropriate term for legally terminating life. Mankind was apparently born to kill; hence those killing sprees called war is normal and therefore moral; if it were not for war, experts claim, there would be no moral development of the human race, nor would there be a god or devil to blame for the carnage. Furthermore, it is unfair to blame a leader for doing God and His People’s will. Even if he were the Evil One, he should not be blamed for everyone’s evil tendencies; if anyone is to blamed for the existence of the Devil, let it be God, the omnipotent creator of all beings.

In any (democratic-republican) event, people who bashed Mr. Bush should have taken the people who empowered him to task. Therefore in retrospect Bush-bashers owe President Bush an apology, and they should pray to his god for forgiveness, for they are to truly blame for impeding the moral progress of the warring race. Still, thank God for the Devil, whosoever he might be, for without evil nothing good would be done, and he who ignores evil is good for nothing.
