We had better wake up soon, for we are being rolled in our sleep!

In several of my essays, notably 'Sheer Propaganda,' 'Adjust and Adapt', "Against the Power Elite,' and 'Fascists Invade Hawaii' ('Hawaii Suffers'), I have protested against the neo-liberal form of organized greed infecting our globe. The power elite of Hawaii are now looking forward with itching palms to the May 2001 Honolulu meeting of the Asian Development Bank, one of principal organs of neo-liberal globalism, therefore I seize this opportunity to make a few more remarks about neo-liberalism and the abusive system of authority that fosters it.

Neo-liberalism is simply the old conservatism supported by economic justifications, namely, the economics of classical liberalism shorn of its social concerns. Furthermore, some of the ideology propagated by the neo-liberal globalists as well as the propaganda techniques themselves are similar to those developed by the thinkers greatly admired by fascists such as Mussolini and Hitler.

Neo-liberalism attempts to divide economics from sociology and throw sociology away as useless or to incorporate it as pseudo-sociology. Those who oppose the inevitable march of organized greed led by the power elite's storm-troopers are contemptuously branded as "socialists", or as the "forces of darkness and tribalism," or in pseudo-scientific psychoanalytical jargon, as "paranoid, narcissistic, hysterical individualists." Of course, the proponents of neo-liberalism are "scientific", "objective", and "rational."

The political objective of the neo-liberals, in Marxist terms, is to wither the state; that is, to rid it of the civilization associated with public service, equality of rights, rights to a good public education, to health, culture, art and, especially, the right to job security. The state is to be rid of its "socialists", a term for any person who objects to the expansion of an economic monopolization that insists on abandoning public policies designed to alleviate the suffering or "painful adjustments" of its victims. The "long-term advantage" of the "adaptation" is that the state will in fact be, after its roll-back and the thorough "privatization" of social services, the servile political cabinet of big business. In other words, the state will be merely the domestic and international coordinating function of the vested interests who are presently hiding fearfully, with good reason, in their luxurious compounds and bunkers.

Already, in the United States, the marginal institutions of the actual government are greater than the core government. Those marginal institutions are legion: quasi-public agencies, joint ventures, government contractors and subcontractors and the like. They are often largely unaccountable, sometime operating outside of the budget, autonomous or semi-autonomous organizations who govern informally under the command of leaders who are not elected by the citizens whose lives they have in their hands. Under pretext of the efficiency of the private sector, government business is privatized and the true material costs of government are concealed by private financial statements. Social costs are covered up, and denied when some egregious event occurs, and a continual stream of propaganda is kept up about the "liberating effects" of "free markets." As for the core government, with the exception of a few holdouts who are scorned, it serves primarily as the instrument of private capital; its greedy politicians cater to any power concentrated in a few hands, very often to the detriment of the general populace which is constantly brainwashed and distracted from the gigantic shell game.

So effective has the corporate propaganda been, many of those people who suffer the most by it do believe it will by some masochistic miracle alleviate their suffering. People who are naturally distrustful of authority would mistakenly take it out of the public arena where it can be watched by millions, and thus place it in entirely in private boardrooms; since it cannot be scrutinized there, authority is believed to be emasculated; indeed, any effort by government to regulate the activities in those secret chambers is also objected to in order to completely ignore the problem of authority. The absurdity of that ostrich approach to authority is obvious, yet those who foolishly think they are liberals or conservatives have been so blinded by the rhetoric that they have become demented political morons.

One central doctrine of corporatism is that private economic growth must be maximized regardless of the social costs, which are to be ignored by the bookkeepers pursuant to generally accepted accounted principles. Productivity and competitiveness are emphasized as the sole goal of all-consuming activity. More and more of the produce is trash and junk produced to keep the populace busy and diverted; even leisure has become work. The net effect of this obsessive puritanical activity shall be, unless arrested, the continual diminution of the human soul, now distracted by make-work and ephemeral leisure addictions; the over-population of Earth with ephemerons commanded by a relatively tiny minority of anal-retentive executives; a decline in the real standard of living; and, eventually, because the human soul is fundamentally a social soul, the oppressive disintegration of that soul shall result in a series of explosive outbursts which will rapidly depopulate the Earth.

The propaganda employed to bring about the corporate utopia uses terms such as "deregulation", "flexibility," "privatization," "democratization", "global prosperity", and so on, as messages of universal liberation of people from themselves at the hands of a corporate dictatorship. The "democracy" spoken of as a requirement of membership in global trade organizations is a farcical democracy, no more of a democracy in the final analysis than Red Communist "democracy" or fascist "democracy."

The propaganda has been propagated so effectively by the intellectual prostitutes and intelligence forces funding them, including powerful, secretive forces such as the CIA, that the masses have come once again to believe it is true ; so often have they heard the orchestra playing the concert in the media, they believe it is popular therefore true . Thus once again we see members of the Suidae dynasty rising to the most powerful political offices in the globe in order to advance the interests of their kith and kin; ironically, they rise on a wave of obscene oil profits protested by their own electors. Having wallowed in oil, they rise to the top, on a wave of puritanical jealously, to protect their accumulated surplus; they are indeed secular puritans who by virtue of work accumulated fortunes, then reduced charity to private pittances while continuing the very hoarding from which arises the need for their charitable handouts. And who is their enemy? Why, but of course, the "socialists" who would socialize the surplus expropriated by the capitalists from the "socialists." Just the mere term "social" is anathema to the vested interests.

It is truly amazing that anyone in their right mind would sacrifice their hard-won social rights in order to place themselves at the mercy of the corporatists who care no more for the lives of innocent people than the executives who continue to sell defective products knowing they are killing and maiming people, and who lie when they are confronted with evidence. Likewise, the political leaders bought by the laundered money of the vested interests care little for the women raped and the hundreds of thousands of innocent people slaughtered in other countries in the name of the power elite's specious "democracy," nor do they mind obtaining the same self-serving objectives by means of economic warfare on poor, sick and defenseless people, the subjects of their "painful adjustments." In the congressional halls, the neo-liberal stooges, who call themselves reformers but who are really conformers to the global reform of the power elite, run along like the old imperialist running dogs, and go so far as to say the abominations of war are justified in dirty wars such as the war on the peasantry in Vietnam, so that the American murderers of helpless women and children are therefore "heroes."  "Heroes." Therefore the populace applauds on cue.

Has everyone lost their minds? Once those are gone, the heads will soon roll. Must the love of power reduce everyone to the brutishness of the primitive absolute god of monotheism who regularly murdered innocents? I suppose so, as long as we have merely the sublime thrill of the horror rolling by on our screens while we are safe in our safe living rooms; as long as we observe the horror from the air, we might get a kick out of the atrocities on the ground, and even lust for more victims since those thrills are so superficial. Therefore when we hear that the political-economic policies of the adored powers that be are resulting in horrendous consequences on the ground, perhaps we, like our leaders, do not mind very much, and we might rather enjoy the casualties of "painful adjustments" that others are making for our leadership.

As for the economic warfare waged by the neo-liberal fascists on the entire globe, the casualties are not good enough bad news to attract much attention; the subjective pain is invisible and the objective deterioration is not explosive enough for a few fleeting images, but the suffering is horrendous. Perhaps the morons will wake up while they are being rolled in their sleep, and realize they have become welcome mats for somebody else's change. I certainly hope so.
