Everybody’s got opinions about everything, so what’s new? Very recently it came to my attention – I have a choice about whose opinions I buy into. Recognizing this and putting it into practice I saw changes in my experiences that I previously wondered about their possibilities.
Being as clear as possible, I am talking about opinions expressed by people in the world around me, and those expressed by my Inner Being. Only recently did I bring together the relationship with my Inner Being and me. Only in the past few weeks did I even give thought to the opinion my Inner Being held of me and factor that opinion into my everyday thinking. As I considered the opinion my Inner Being held of me I also started thinking of others in terms of the opinion my Inner Being held of them. Understand if you will – it takes practice doing this, because so readily I had gone to opinions I had formed based on what I had observed and interpreted from my day-to-day experiences.
So you might wonder about this Inner Being I am talking about. My Inner Being is the broader non-physical part of my being, my I AMness, my Higher Self – the aspect of self that is Christ within, the Father within, Spirit within. Over the past 12 to 18 months especially, my interest in God’s opinion of me – the opinion of my Inner Being – escalated, particularly when I focused increasingly more attention being created in the image and likeness of God as my truth.
Realizing I am created in the image and likeness of God, contemplating attributes that go along with this state I found it easy to see what the Father thought of me. I realized the Father’s opinion of me was this: I am being mastery and dominion over the earth; I am being health and wellness, love and appreciation, protection and security, provision and abundance, joy and serenity, victory and accomplishment – just to name a few. I had contemplated these attributes throughout my joy vigil – which at the time I am writing this article is close to 1100 days. But only recently did I consider these qualities as the Father’s opinion of me. Further this lead me to think, “This is the Father’s opinion of all the people of the earth”.
Thinking the Father’s opinion of me is a new focus, one that gives me outrageous joy. I began to see what happens when I get caught up in opinions people express around me – my feelings are mixed, sometimes good and sometimes not good. Relying on opinions others express makes me wobbly; I realize this keeps me in a state of flux, especially when my aim is to feel good.
Interestingly enough I had to come to terms with the regularity to which I looked to others for their opinions and interpreted their opinions in relation to me. I asked for it by giving attention – that is, thinking about things they said or did. Feeling bad about what I noticed shows I bought into their opinions and subsequently experience the impact of their opinions. From the moment I started giving attention to the opinion of my Inner Being I realized I could choose the opinion most appropriate for my wellbeing and attain outrageous joy.
