As I closed my earlier article about opinions I buy into, I mentioned the need to come to terms with the regularity to which I looked to others for their opinions and interpreted their opinions in relation to me. I am especially concerned about opinions that result in feeling bad about myself – opinions expressing complaints about something I said or did or failed to say or do. I realized opinions like these often trigger arguments, discord and conflict in relationships. Additionally, it was easy to see how reactions like these drive momentum to greater and greater disappointment and anger, making things increasingly worse.
Thinking about things we said or did during an argument – trying to figure out what went wrong or how to fix it, does not help. I discovered the more I tried to fix the problem in my mind – with inner conversations, my frustration made me feel worse. And it got no better when trying to discuss matters that were seemingly at the core of the complaint with others. Plain and simple, arguments or complaints express opinions that differ from the opinion of my Inner Being. Any effort to defend myself or explain my point merely amplifies the difference in these opinions – the opinion the Father has of both of us. Even trying to get the other person to listen is futile, unless that person is consciously aware of the Father’s opinion.
Aware of the Father’s opinion I realize the only thing that went wrong was my failure to go to the Father’s opinion right away. The thing that went wrong – I reacted to something someone said instead of using the feeling that came up as a signal from the Father showing I had given attention to something other than his opinion of me. I acted on my feeling when I could have turned to the Father and rested in his opinion. The moment I interpreted what the person said as an insult I sprang forward to defend myself when I could have used the feeling to remind me of my desire to feel outrageous joy.
Since I am the extension of my non-physical being in physical reality, I am a vibrational being and as so, had already transmitted vibrations that differed from the Father’s opinion when the complaint came up. The complaint came to help me see what I was doing. In the specific matter, I had allowed myself to “worry” about the persons who complained about my reaction to what they asked when they arrived. They left home hours prior and had not returned at the expected time. I had heard them say they were going to a single location for a specific time. It was not my business to worry about them because their Inner Being is their wellbeing – their security and that was the only thing I needed to think.
While I just wanted to be sure these persons were okay I went into “worry” and that was sufficient vibrational offering to attract more to worry about. In the case of the argument, it became worry about the opinion they expressed. The opinion conveyed in what I saw as an insult was low and condescending, differing tremendously from the Father’s opinion of me. I did not like it that they thought of me in a low way; but they had to because I had offered a vibration that allowed it. They were merely reacting to the vibration I had already offered and they were not consciously aware of the possibility for other opinions. How did I know what they were aware of? Their reaction and the vibration they offered was the same as mine.
Considering persons around me and myself, I realized the value of agreeing with and practicing the opinion of my Inner Being and the Inner Being of these persons. So I asked Spirit within to show images that represent the higher opinion. I saw this lovely opinion and dwelt in it.
