Why? They pointed out that the campaign was to lower taxes for corportations and wealthy individuals. The campaign was not a plan to free working and middle class folks from any tax burden. We were supposed to keep paying taxes and not complain.

Taxes are how the government gets funding for all kinds of projects. Some of these projects are so useful for the day-to-day function of our society that it would collapse if the funding was not made available. Such activities as snow removal, or testing of drinking water at public water sources, repairing bridges and highways, building schools, and giving disaster relief--these could not be done without tax dollars.

Back in the 1950s, taxes on corporations and wealthy individuals provided enought money for the government to do grand things like build the highway system, build dams to provide water to farms and communities, build electric power plants, etc. Government can do more for the people if everyone pays their fair share.

During the 1980s, President Reagan, George W. Bush and Donald Trump cut taxes on the corporations and the wealthy.  Working and middle class people got some tax cuts, but still had to carry the burden. The lack of tax dollars coming in made the national debt worse. There was less money to pay the debt. 

I now know and believe that more tax should be put on the corporations and wealthy of this country.  They need to pay their fair share! I hope you're a tax payer like me.  Let me know what you think.
