As a fan of the 2016 animated movie "Trolls," I worried about my high expectations for any sequel. Happily, “Trolls World Tour” delighted me, probably because of its emphasis on music, music, music. What’s your favorite music genre? No matter what your answer, it probably gets a time to shine in this lively show – even yodeling. With Justin Timberlake serving as one of the musical producers again, you can bet on a variety of special exhibitions on screen. The only one not included is Disco.

Timberlake also returns as the voice of cynical Branch, one of the main characters. Plus, Anna Kendrick comes back as Poppy, the happiest troll you will ever see. These two appealing characters anchor the sequel, but other colorful characters give them a run for their money here --particularly Queen Barb, voiced by Rachel Bloom, and Hickory/Prince D, voiced by Sam Rockwell. Adding to the fun are George Clinton and Mary J. Blige as the Funk Music leaders, plus many more surprises.

Marvelous singing and dancing take over the screen in this creative sequel, which makes me very happy – because, of course, I’m the world’s most avid movie musical fan.

And her friend Branch still wears a frown.

He loves Poppy yet cannot say,

for her Queen goals get in the way.

Poppy learns of Trolls world-wide

with different music their guide.

Rock Queen Barb wants to own them all.

Poppy jumps to answer the call.

The music battle then begins

We can’t help hoping her side wins.

Music styles of many kinds shine

Pop music is a fave of mine.

Country, classic and so-smooth jazz

receive their moments of pizzazz.

Bursts of color explode in scenes.

Cute creatures dance joyful routines.

“Trolls World Tour” wants to make us smile.

That’s not been seen for quite a while.

My only concern about this film involves the over-stimulation of toddlers with all the fast action and color extravaganza going on. Also, please don’t let the movie’s annoying raucous opening bother you. When the story gets underway, everything works. If you don’t like one type of music, chances are the next one covered might have you dancing and singing right along with the Trolls.

Except for Toy Story, the first one, and Ratatouille, I find many animated movies to be rather trite. I just watched Peter Rabbit. While the love story was nice, both the rabbits' behavior and what happened to them--their home under a large tree was destroyed--never seem to be repaired even though the rabbits remained happily together. I guess the problem was there was no really tragic event, except that one, glossed over, that made the story worthwhile.

Trolls don't intrigue me in the least, and I'm growing tired of musicals. But from your fine review I'm sure that all animated movie lovers and musical lovers will love it.
