TWISTERS co-stars Daisy Edgar-Jones and Glen Powell , who also starred in 2 more movies this year. Those were very different types of roles for Glen (THE HIT MAN and ANYONE BUT YOU, which both show his comedy ability). Daisy, an English actress, has stage credits as well as TV. Although marvelous special effects take over at times, both these stars deliver excellent performances. I like to watch the slow chemistry develop between them. Supporting actor Anthony Ramos (IN THE HEIGHTS) also deserves recognition as Javi, a friend of Kate interested in business.

But TWISTERS shows folks who take dares.

How to handle a tornado?

Kate, Tyler, Javi want to know.

Too bad Kate has made a mistake.

Thinking about it starts her shake.

Will she get back into the game

or still remain within her shame?

Action and acting combine fate.

Making TWISTERS a sequel date!

I am impressed with the performances of Daisy Edgar-Jones and Glen Powell. Daisy has a difficult role as Kate but manages it well. And Glen is great as a good-natured cowboy who cares about Kate.

Kudos to director Lee Isaac Chung (MINARI) for keeping a balance between the scary sky and the human actions in this terrific offering.   

My favorite scene takes place at a rodeo. Although terrible things happen, I went right along with them while being frightened every minute, just like I felt while watching the scary tornado faced by Judy Garland in THE WIZARD OF OZ way back in 1939. My husband always said that Garland one couldn’t be matched, but I think TWISTERS finally does the trick. More praise to the special effects people.      

Don’t miss this one! But be prepared for lots of scares and chills.
