DON'T CONFUSE ME WITH FACTS & TRUTH !
This statement seems to reflect the general attitude of the American public, and particularly those who have been upset over comments made by Senator Obama's minister: Rev. Jeremiah Wright.
Despite the fact that we have Constitutional Rights in this country...including FREEDOM OF SPEECH, many people have been very critical of Rev. Wright (an ex-marine) exercising this right. Jeremiah Wright has had to cancel speaking engagements, and an honorary doctorate was rescinded because of the short tape that was played of little sound-bites...over and over on FOX NEWS and other shows.
WHILE TORNADOES, FLOODS, EARTHQUAKES AND HURRICANES are ravaging the planet and our nation is suffering with A SAGGING ECONOMY, JOB LOSSES, HIGH PRICES (and more problems) ...Fox News pundents and some of their right-wing cronies seemed to be overly obsessed with Rev. Wright's TRUTHFUL sermons on injustices. They want to characterize him in a negatively light. WHY?
Few people have been outraged that DEATH THREATS were sent to his church over his comments. It is a very sad commentary that most people have been more concerned about "political spin" over these comments...not about the truth...not about the threats .....unashamedly not about the Gov't lies told to get us in the Iraq War --where one of Rev. Wright's children is in the military...not about rights to speak.
Although BOTH OF THESE MEN -- Obama and Wright--have done wonderful, dynamic things and helped a lot of people...they have become the center of negative attacks.
NEVER IN HISTORY HAS ONE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE HAD HIS PASTOR UNJUSTLY ATTACKED IN A PUBLIC FORM.
** WHY IS THE MEDIA PUMPING THIS STORY SO MUCH?
Somebody spent a lot of time and energy browsing through a collection of videos of years of sermons in order to produce the little "greatest hits of controversy" tape that has been shown repeatedly in an effort to degrade Rev. Wright.
Both OBAMA and REV. WRIGHT have been victimized by these sick media pundents...the ones who first started the "sound bite tapes" and who have created a silly issue...HANNITY, O'REILLY, GLENN BECK and RUSH LIMBAUGH...etc.
IT SEEMS THAT generally speaking --White people who criticize America (such as: Pat Buchanan, Jesse Ventura, Ron Paul, or Jimmy Carter, etc.) -- are considered to be --"critical thinkers" or "concerned citizens who want to make improvements...." *BUT BLACK PEOPLE who SAY anything at all about injustices...are--- "anti-American, haters, racists, bombastic fools, maniacs...." (and worse).
Since none of these pundents and commentators were present in the church at the time of the sermons, nor are they members of Trinity UCC...it was really none of their business what Rev. Wright said...and certainly not material to be used for political fodder.
MANY PEOPLE-- news pundents: people like SEAN HANNITY and REPUBLICANS --- have attacked Rev. J. Wright over his comments about AIDS, about Gov't lies, about the IRAQ WAR...about mis-education, racism, etc. --all without ONE BIT OF REFERENCE to any evidence, books, or experts that could DIS-PROVE what the good Rev. claims.
However, when asked at a recent major media event...Rev. Wright did cite references, research, books, expert opinions and other footnotes to support what he was stating. He has every right to talk, to defend his comments, to speak about the injustices, etc.
AND NOTICE -- FEW PEOPLE INVOLVED -- NO POLITICIANS, NO COMMENTATORS...NO NEWS PUNDENTS HAVE PLACED ANY BLAME WHATSOEVER ON THOSE WHO UNJUSTLY ATTACKED REV. WRIGHT IN THE FIRST PLACE...using a 30-sec. sound-bite of the Rev's most controversial hits from 30 years of being a pastor.
.... Notice very little is said about Rev. Hagee's wild comments...not about any body else's minister's controversial remarks...not even Bush's stupidity. McCain does not have to EXPLAIN why Bush violated many laws and regulations-- illegal wiretaps, torture, the HURRICANE KATRINA debacle, etc. -- or why they lied to get into that war...etc.
IT IS OUTRAGEOUS.
PERHAPS THE PUNDENTS WHO HAVE ATTACKED REV. WRIGHT WERE NOT REALLY CONCERNED WITH WHAT HE SAID...BUT WERE ONLY SEEKING TO...DIVIDE AND CONQUER!
Why does OBAMA have to answer for the comments of one other man?
Obama should be UPSET at the likes of Sean Hannity, O'Reilly and the
Republicans for invading this pastor's sacred territory...his church.
THEY ARE NOT MEMBERS...THEY WERE NOT THERE AT THE SERMON, and THEY DON'T REGULARLY GO TO THAT CHURCH.
Their actions may have violated some laws or Rev. Wright's CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS. THIS IS WHAT REV. IS TALKING ABOUT WHEN HE SAYS...
"...it is an attack on the Black church..."
The underlying impetous for this sick media attack is not about what either Obama believes or what Rev. was saying.
THOSE NEWS PUNDENTS CONDUCTED AN OUTRAGEOUS INVASION of that church's pulpit and the minister's rights to speak. It was not only racist, but corrupt and deviant politics.
WHAT HAPPENED TO "...separation of church and state?"
Conspiracy theories have proliferated all over the country, and abound on the Internet and Youtube….like a horrible disease. The problem is – most of these claims and allegations against our politicians are at best exaggerated – and at worst outright lies.
After permitting Bush to get the nation into huge debt, waste billions of dollar on wars, bail out Wall St., etc. – it is the Republicans who fight and resist helping the regular people on Main St .
JUST BECAUSE FOLKS DON'T AGREE OR DON'T WANT TO HEAR IT...DOES NOT MEAN IT IS NOT TRUE.
IT IS A SAD COMMENTARY that people are not so interested in the PROBLEMS that we all face.... the ECONOMIC DEPRESSION, LOSS OF JOBS, HIGH GAS & FOOD PRICES, WAR IN IRAQ...etc.
WE HOPE THAT OBAMA will speak out more against the madness and corruption that is going on in Washington, D.C. -- instead of trying to "explain" Rev. Wright's comments.
SILLY SEASON: The April 2008 DEBATE in Pennsylvania is a great illustration of how far many of the news pundents, reporters, commentators and others have strayed from addressing the issues that really effect the public. ABC News commentators spent at least 45 min. asking petty questions before ever mentioning anything that is seriously effecting the American people....such as:THE WAR, THE ECONOMY, SOCIAL SECURITY, EDUCATION, HEALTH CARE, etc.

These PETTY, UNFOUNDED DISTRACTIONS, TWISTED attacks and trumped up "CONTROVERSY" over Obama's comments about -- "...people are bitter" -- are nothing but ploys by Hillary and McCain to deflect and distort the issues. Hillary and McCain are just trying to distort Obama as "elite" and "out of touch " -- when both of them have been taking money from LOBBYISTS despite the problems caused by these lobbyists.
