Illustrate the power of consciousness by choosing from the infinite possibilities within your being. Making this your day-to-day practice brings you far more than you ever considered.
What are you thinking right now? I invite you to be consciously aware of your thoughts and the corresponding images that appear in your mind's eye. I sorta stumbled into it. One day I gave my attention to what I was thinking and I realized I saw an image in my mind's eye. I did not plan it that way and I did not conjure up the image. It just appeared and I saw it. Eventually I tested it out – by naming one concept after another. Each time, an image appeared on the stage of my mind, representing my version of the concept. Seeing one version of the concept in my mind's eye, I checked to see if other versions would appear as images. as I explored with the concepts and their corresponding images, the idea of infinite possibilities loomed large for me. in that moment I realized I had more possibilities than I could handle.
Now don’t take my word for this. Test it out for yourself. Check the images that appear in your mind's eye when you think of concepts. By the way, each person represents a concept and each person in your life represents the concept you chose. I bring this up because I am asking you to observe images that appear when you think certain concepts.
To start testing your capacities, think about a loved one. A loved one is the concept you chose to assign to a person you care about. I could ask you to think about an adversary and you would know whom you assigned this meaning. But back to your loved one, preferably a loved one who is not in the same room with you, think of this person and see the image of this person in your mind's eye. Now think about your favorite fruit and see its image on the stage of your mind. Where is that piece of fruit? Is it in a fruit bowl? Is it in your hand? Is it in your loved one’s hand? Okay, think about an elephant and see its image in your mind's eye. See a pink elephant? See a purple and red elephant? See a stripped elephant? This was just a warm up.
Now that you are warmed up, think or speak any concept – person, place, thing, or event – and see its image appear on the stage of your mind. Get into the experience with your image. Take action with it – embrace it, converse with it or something that pleases you. If the image is that of your loved one, take action in your mind that delights you. It might be cooking with your loved one or dancing together. Notice how you feel about your action and about yourself.
The action you took represents just one possibility. Be reminded that infinite possibilities are available to you – as to how you might interact with your loved one. So push the envelope. Go outside the box and take action you might not have done before. Perhaps in your imaginal action with your loved one you are on a cruise ship in a lovely stateroom. Take it from here. You are the only one in your mind, free to take whatever action you wish.
Your imaginal activities are your inner life experiences, and you and only you can decide what you do in your inner life experiences. Sustained, your inner life experiences become experiences you have in your day-to-day world. Taking part in these experiences with elevated emotions such as joy and serenity or love and appreciation, you create a most wonderful atmosphere all around you and in your inner environment where you nourish the cells of your body.
Interesting discussion. I've found that concepts are difficult to get across without images. For example, scientific discussions about abstract concepts that are all words become extremely difficult to understand… Lost in the words. Mathematics was developed to show, in very simple terms, very complex ideas. Perhaps the most famous of these concepts in mathematics is E = mc˛.
I taught rather technical courses. In order to teach the concepts involved, I would often come up with images in my mind and then draw them on the chalkboard or on overhead transparencies. The idea that a picture is worth 1000 words worked because my students were able to understand the concepts much better when I used illustrations of them in my presentations.
I haven't illustrated my novels… Perhaps I should.
