But, hey - here's an idea!
WHAT IF - like the Arabs did way back in the 70's I think it was, they NATIONALIZED THE OIL INDUSTRY!
Kicked out all the FOREIGNERS - American Oil Companies, British Oil Companies - and took over the OIL FIELDS - Then, somewhere shortly thereafter they formed OPEC - and guess what? These Camel-Jockies have been SWIMMING IN OUR MONEY EVER SINCE!
So, WHAT IF - our esteemed leaders in Washington did the SAME THING? NATIONALIZED THE OIL INDUSTRY - then, all those CEO's, CFO's, and SOB's would ALL be FEDERAL EMPLOYEES! And all their PERKS and UMBRELLA DEALS would go BYE -BYE!
Ultimately then, ALL the workers in ALL the companies, in ALL the Refineries, Distilleries, and Oil By-Products Producing companies would be guv'mint employees also! And the really BEST part is that ALL of the thousands upon thousands of GAS STATION OWNERS, both Name Brand and Independent, would be on the Federal Payroll too! Talk about creating EMPLOYMENT - WOW - GSA ALONE would need to hire a whole GANG of people, wouldn’t they?
ALL competition could be eliminated, saving Millions upon Millions of Dollars in Advertising, Sign Manufacturing, and also eliminating the need for motorists to SHOP PRICES AT THE PUMPS!
There would be only ONE SIGN at EVERY STATION - USA GAS! There would only be ONE NATIONAL PRICE FOR GAS, in every location, from Coast to Coast! We could then be "ONE NATION UNDER GAS!"
Equality and Justice for ALL would be our MOTTO!
Now, we get into the really nice Nitty-Gritties - ALL of the shares of STOCK of ALL the Oil Companies now in existence would be BOUGHT OUT by the federal Government at ONE PRICE - ONE DOLLAR PER SHARE! PERIOD!
Then, each and every American Citizen would receive newly issued shares, based on a simple formula - Total number of shares of ALL companies in existence, divided by total population, equals number of new shares per Capita.
EXAMPLE - If 270,000,000 shares, divided by 270,000,00 citizens - each Man, Woman, AND Child would get ONE share!
If Double the number of shares, then each gets TWO shares. If number of existing shares are TEN-FOLD, then EACH LEGAL CITIZEN receives TEN times as many shares. SIMPLE - DIRECT - and FAIR!
All shares issued to Minors are issued IN TRUST, with the specification that they CANNOT be SOLD by their parents. Upon reaching age Eighteen, those millions of teenagers have full power to then Control them. If they want to SELL to get money for College, or to start a business, or any other reason, they have FULL TITLE to do so!
The final step in this NATIONALIZATION process is a REAL BIGGY! Both the Civil Service Retirement Funds AND the Special, Separate Retirement Funds of CONGRESS must be MERGED into the Social Security Administration Benefits Funds! PERIOD!
Then ALL AMERICANS come under the SAME SYSTEM of Retirement Benefits, thus ALL have a dedicated interest in the SUCCESS and PROTECTION of said SSA SYSTEM!
With the constant, ongoing demise of separate Corporate Pensions, and Corporate PLANNED FAILURES and SUBTERFUGE, it is only a matter of time that these separate and UN-PROTECTED PLANS will gradually dwindle away. To this end, ONE SOUND SYSTEM of SOCIAL SECURITY is OF, BY, and FOR the benefit of ALL Citizens!
In the Famous words of Abraham Lincoln, at his speech at Gettyburg, to wit:
"... this nation under God will have a new rebirth of freedom... and that this government of the people, by the people, and for the people, will not perish from the face of the earth."
You want REBIRTH? Then -- HEED those words!

The Big Oil Boys made $125 Billion just in one year - yet they still cry to Congress for Billions in Tax Subsidies, while the IRS harasses people like you, and gasoline now approaches a ludicrous $4.00 per gallon.
I doubt your epic plan will go very far, my friend. It takes lots and lots of Clout these days, to get anywhere.
