"Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!" John 1:29
Jesus is my substitute in all things for my salvation.
"Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people" Hebrews 2:17.
Jesus' incarnation had one purpose--to die as the substitute for all people.
"For the wages of sin is death" Romans 6:23.
Everybody had to die and God chose to take the place of everyone, so everyone could live.
"But the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" Romans 6:23.
That life is now mine because I believe God did it for me. I was heading for eternal damnation, a sinner from Adam's lineage. My ancestor Adam born me into sin--and sin means death. I don't want eternal death.
"Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire" Revelation 20:14, 15.
Nope--I don't want that. So how do I change the circumstances Adam put me into? How do I get into the Lamb's Book of Life?
"Jesus answered and said, "Truly, I tell you, unless a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God"" John 3:3.
Got it--did it--done. Here I am, a sinner living in the Lamb's Book of Life.
"And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son" 1 John 5:11.
I'm held in the grip of a Lamb. I can't get out. I don't want to get out.
I want everyone else to be in the Lamb's grip for all eternity.
